It’s been a long time coming and I feel like I could almost not come back. Watch out Big Sur! I can’t wait to traipse through the Redwoods and watch the sunset on Pfeiffer Beach.

Neil Young has been on high rotation. Especially Unknown Legend which I think is the perfect road trip song. My favourite cover is from TOTR, stunning!

Do you have any tips? Avoid Alcatraz and Hearst Castle? Venture deep into Compton?

Either way, I’ll keep you posted. Oh yeah, NYE was magical. A few relaxing days in Byron with good people, unlimted cider and endless beach days.

Did everyone have a beautiful day? Santa didn’t hear me, I asked him for a new pad. Preferably in the country side with sprawling acres and two golden palamino horses. Ahh well, one can only dream. I can’t believe we are now into the New Year. I feel like I’ve run a million miles and back in the last 365 days. Chaaaange is a sign of the times and I’m not ready to turn 25 yet!! Maybe if I situate myself in New York for long enough it will be alright. Lots of help to get me on the way with various XMAS delights including a generous gift voucher for Flight Centre and some new threads from Scanlan to make me look the part. Too bad it’s snowing in NY, here come the mittens hehe. I am also much looking forward to some much needed down time in Byron. I just had one of the most amazing days of my burgeoning career with Julian Wilson. From setting up his media schedule to taking him to Cafe Ish to ordering crab for brekkie. It all feels so surreal. I am super grateful to have had the experience and no doubt have much to take from it…

Book Club ended up on an awkward high with our KK exchange taking place over an air hockey table in galaxy world. All my wishes came true when I became the proud owner of a portable pug. No disrespect to Kirby but it was the thought that count. 50 dumplings each later it was all or nothing on the dodgem track with a few bruises. Winding up at the new Tio’s tequila place, we had beers on the house, non stop laughs from the jerk unicorn and reminisced about all the times we’ve had this year. Not to be outdone, little Dani Abi returns to our shores for one night only which should be a riot. Cannot wait!

Reflecting on 2011, I cringe and obsess over things I wore and listened to. I had a love affair going on with Chevy Chase for the early part of August and had you can call me al on repeat! Who am I?! Who admits he looks mighty fine in white suit? You can’t contest it. A lot of love for Bon Iver’s Holocene track and video. It broke my heart listening to this song when Kirby died but it lifted me at the same time. Seeing Unknown Mortal Orchestra at the Opera House was a highlight and jostling for a spot to see Tyler the Creator was intense. I will never stop wearing my 3/4 cream pants and my black mid boots have become an essential. I still wish I could pull off a backwards cap

Have you heard? Book Club got one of the original members back. Dani has rejoined the circle once more (promise not to leave again!) Feels like home and with Christmas around the corner, it’s perfection to have her back.

We both looked at each other and felt the same thing, we’ve been friends for so long….it means a lot to share experiences with someone who has always known you.

I’m so proud of everything she has achieved this year and I don’t think I tell her enough.
